Live True to your Values and make Life Happen
True happiness is achieved when we live our life in alignment with our values and honor the things that matter most.
When making
a life choice or setting a goal it is important to understand exactly what your
values are, so that you can determine if what you are wanting to achieve is aligned
to your values. Take the time to ask yourself, ‘Does this take me closer, or
further from, a life that is aligned with my values. The closer the goals are
to your values the greater the chance you have of achieving them…
When you
choose goals that do not reflect your values, or are the goals that reflect
others values you can often find yourself conflicted, and unmotivated to take
the necessary steps to make the goal happen, leading to disappointment,
disenchantment, and self-doubt.
I know for
me, throughout my life, the times I have had the greatest success has been when
I have been true to my beliefs and what is important to me.
One of my biggest values in life has been health and fitness, there was a time in my life when I was unwell, I had a life threatening auto immune disease called Graves disease that impacted and reduced the quality of my life. So much so that it almost took my life, it was an extremely scary time in my life.
It was in this moment that I came to realise just how important my health and fitness was to me, that I needed to make myself a priority and make some serious changes. I made a decision that I would take the necessary steps to regain my health and fitness. I knew it was not going to be easy and that it would take hard work and commitment, but because it was part of my value set, I was determined and prepared to put the hard yards in to make it happen.
It did not
happen overnight, but in time, my fitness and my health returned and I felt
fantastic, I had more energy and was able to do things that I had never done
before, I became happy and developed a positive outlook to my life and it made
it possible for me to work towards other goals.
In fact, I
became so passionate about the benefits of health and fitness that I decided become
a personal trainer to help others to achieve their goals.
Before you leap into your next goal, make sure your first step is to sit down and think about what is important to you and write down your goals. That way you will give yourself the best chance to make your goals a reality and not a dream…
